Star Valley To Vote On Budget, Includes Police Services

The Star Valley Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, at the Star Valley Baptist Church to formally vote on its 2006-2007 fiscal-year budget.

The overall proposed budget is nearly $1.43 million, $1.18 million of which comes from the general fund and another $250,000 from Highway Users Revenue Fund.

The top proposed budgeted item is the $100,000 contract the town has entered into with the Payson Police Department for law enforcement services.

Interim Town Manager Lanny Sloan has also budgeted several items for what the town hopes will be its new town hall.

Currently, Star Valley's town hall is in a Baptist church on Highway 260. The new town hall, which would be annexed from the Forest Service, would at first be a double-wide mobile home with the ability to hold up to 75 people.

Sloan has budgeted $40,000 for the site work, $32,000 for the land, $21,500 for the building and $8,000 for the building remodel.
