The Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) would like to express a special "thank you" to the many businesses, organizations, officials, and RSVP stations that made the June 22 volunteer recognition event a delight. Approximately 150 volunteers and guests attended the event.

The businesses that provided donations for the event were: Bashas', Safeway, Mazatzal Casino, Payson Florist, and Wal-Mart.

"Thank you" to Town Council members, Ed Blair, Su Connell and Mike Vogel for sharing some time in support of the many area volunteers as well as a "thank you" to Payson Parks and Recreation for the donation of space and assistance on the grounds at ramada #5.

"Thank you" to Time Out Shelter and Time Out 2 Thrift Shop and Volunteer Coordinator, Audrey Maurer, for the door prize. Thanks to Gordon Ellis, Volunteer Coordinator for the Payson Senior Center and thrift shop and to Tom McGuigan, vice president of the Rim Country Historical Society representing Rim Country Museum and Museum of Rim Country Archaeology with a door prize. "Thank you" to Patty Kaufman, Volunteer Coordinator for RTA Hospice with door prize, Tina Bruess, Executive Director for Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce with door prize, and Cecille Masters Webb, director for the Northern Gila County CASA Program and door prize.

Thanks to the Northern Gila County Genealogical Library with door prize along with Pine Senior Center and Isabelle Hunt Library volunteer coordinator Harriet Follmer for a door prize. Payson Community Kids deserve a special "thank you" for bringing a door prize in the form of the "Community Kids" that provided entertainment that delighted the crowd.

Over 40 volunteers received Presidential Volunteer Service Awards for 2005. Two volunteers received Lifetime Achievement Awards. Eva Prychodnik (Payson Senior Center and Thrift Shop) and Bruce Thompson (Pine Senior Center and Thrift Shop) served over 4,000 hours and were presented with the special award.

It is always a pleasure to be in Payson and the surrounding area of Pine-Strawberry.
