The Rancho Del Sol/Fox Farms property zoning has been changed to allow a residential development.
Crescent Development, which created Chaparral Pines and The Rim Club, has the 80-acre ranch in escrow and sought the zoning change.
The Gila County Board of Supervisors approved the change in a public hearing July 11.
"It was really a no-brainer," said county development officer Bob Gould. "A lot less productive use could have gone in there without going through the zoning process."
Gould said no one attended the public hearing to protest the change, though his office received seven or eight e-mails regarding the project.
"Two said they were OK with it, so long as the trail access remained. The others were mostly upset about losing the horse facility," Gould said.
