Fiesta Week has begun at the Tonto Village Chapel this week. Vacation Bible School has started with catchy music and a lot of enthusiasm. The kids of the Village have been busy each day beginning at 9 a.m. with songs, games, great crafts and Bible lessons that go along with the Fiesta theme.
There are approximately 20 kids, a half dozen youth helpers and the same amount of adult teachers and helpers. There will be a finale to Fiesta Week on Friday evening when the kids put on a skit for the parents beginning at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Come and support the huge efforts of the Chapel to make a great time for the Village kids.
Off to Iraq
Marcel Jones, son of Megan and Eddie Jones of Tonto Village II, has been deployed to Iraq. Marcel, who will turn 22 in September, has been schooled in the Shelby School and raised in Tonto Village. Marcel is a private in the Army, was stationed in Hawaii. Marcel and his friends and family recently met in Phoenix before his deployment overseas. Everyone is urged to include Marcel in his or her prayer circle to keep him out of harm's way.
There were guests from Tucson recently to play Mexican Train with the Domino Divas of Tonto Village. Alice Gilbert of Thompson Draw I invited her friends Susan Schwartz and Doris Beck to spend a delightful afternoon of fun and good food with the group. If you would like to spend Wednesday afternoon with a great group of gals, be at the Tonto Village Chapel on any Wednesday at 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
Water is flowing in the Village again after a difficult time for everyone over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
Everyone should have received the latest water bill. Included is the schedule for restricted water usage. On-site manager Bill Snyder states that the odd and even days to water are based on your billing lot number used by the Water Company. There will be no outside watering on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Water restrictions will be in effect until September for Tonto Village I, II and III.
Tom Dunny of Camp Tontozona will be adding another candle to his birthday cake on July 20. Diane Ham, a former resident of Tonto Village III and now a part-time visitor to Star Valley, headed up the auxiliary of the fire department for many years. She will celebrate her big day on July 20 as well. Happy birthday to all of you.
Margaret Stasney, Betty Koutz and Patty Boeschling were the top winners at the Tuesday evening nine-ball tournament held at the Double D. Patty has rebounded from cancer surgery and she is playing pool as well as she did before her surgery. We all wish you good health from now on, Patty.
Jim Cross, who came up from Payson to play eight-ball on Sunday was the top winner followed by Harvey Poyner and Betty Koutz. Congratulations to all the winners.
