An anticipated group of about 20 teenagers, from Payson, Globe and Young, will gather July 28 and 29 to participate in a regional 4-H competition to be held at the Payson Event Center.
Action tips off at 6 p.m. Friday, July 28 with the timed events, which will include barrel racing, pole bending and goat tying.
Tomorrow, Saturday, English-style events -- including jumping -- begin at 8 a.m.
Following the English events, Western competition-- trail and pleasure riding -- will be held.
4-H show managers say the event is being made possible with the help of several local sponsors.
They include Payson Jewelers, Sunny Mountain Realty, When Cowboys Dream, Corral West, Printing by George, Tall Pines Realty, Rim Country Hay and Grain, Noble Building, Trina and Stephen Kamp, Glenn and Jan Widger, Summer and Mike Harper and Payson Feed.
PAHH needs volunteers
The Payson Area Habitat for Humanity needs volunteers to help host an inaugural 5K and half-marathon fund raiser to be held Oct. 28.
PAHH member Wayne Donnay says the Mazatzal Casino has stepped in to become a major sponsor but volunteers are needed to help with registration and serve as course marshals on race day.
"There are also many other areas where help is needed," he said.
The rewards include self-satisfaction for helping out a worthwhile cause, a special T-shirt, pasta dinner and a lot of fun.
