Cowgirls Theme Of This Year's Rodeo Parade


If your ‘Heroes Have Always Been Cowgirls,' then the 2006 August Doin's Rodeo Parade wants you.

Entries from local businesses, clubs, organizations and individuals are currently being sought by the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce and its Rodeo Parade Committee, headed by Stephanie Keeney.


This year, cowgirls are the focus of the rodeo parade. The theme of the 2006 event is "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowgirls." Entries are due by Aug. 10. Call (928) 474-4515.

The deadline to enter the parade is Aug. 10. The theme this year is "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowgirls."

Fees are as follows: $50 for political entries, $40 for non-member (chamber) businesses, $25 for member businesses, $25 for nonprofits and rodeo royalty may enter the parade for free.

Awards will be given to the best overall entry in each of the categories, which are female costumed rider, male costumed rider, costumed riding group, costumed group, funniest (theme) entry, float, classic vehicles, marching group, civic/volunteer group, color guard and horse drawn.

The parade is at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, with registration at 7:30 a.m. at the Payson Elementary School, 500 E. Rancho Road. The parade route is along the North Beeline Highway (SR 87) from Rancho Road to the Payson Village shopping center (in the vicinity of Bashas' parking lot).
