It's a new shop focused on the old.
Retiring to her home in Flowing Springs, Chrisy Wickstrom wanted to stay busy among the things she loves by opening Chrisy's Cottage. The shop features antiques, shabby chic, home decor, plus romantic clothes and accessories.
Chrisy's Cottage opened July 1 at 718 N. Beeline Highway, Suite B.
Wickstrom brings half-a-dozen years of experience in the antique and shabby chic decor business to the new shop. She has owned and operated Chateau Chic in Phoenix for six years, a store specializing in antiques and shabby chic.
Asked what makes Chrisy's Cottage unique, Wickstrom said she feels the shop's cottage charm and the "old town atmosphere" it exudes makes it special.
"Chrisy's Cottage is not your grandma's antique store," Wickstrom said. "I sell what I like -- painted furniture, architectural elements, crystal chandeliers, antique bedding and textiles, garden ornaments, white ironstone, old containers and anything French.
"I love a clean look that feels as fresh as just-cut daisies and beds layered in old linens and piled high with vintage pillows," she said.
Not only does she sell what she likes, she is selling it in a place she likes.
"I love how the sun pours in the store's front windows every morning, reflecting all the crystal chandeliers on white distressed furniture," she said. "I love how the people just want to move into my shop. It makes me feel good that I've put a smile on their faces.
"I love how my shopkeeping neighbors, The Silk Shop and Cozy Corner Books, pull for each other in an old-town, charming way. Even Payson Florist sent me a welcome bouquet. You just don't get that feeling in the big city. I think I've come home."
Chrisy's Cottage is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday through Sunday. For more information, call (928) 474-4022.
