What first appeared to be a small burglary on Sunday afternoon resulted in two men from Mesa being arrested on numerous charges.
Keith Drake, 32, and Dustin White, 24, were arrested after Payson Police Commander Don Engler said the police department received a call at 4:15 p.m. Sunday reporting a vehicle burglary at the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church.
Engler said officers determined a woman's purse was stolen and that her stolen credit cards were being used around town.
The cards were used at Wal-Mart, Walgreens and Circle K.
The police commander said security surveillance tapes at the stores gave officers a description of the suspects and their vehicle.
Police officer Mike Varga stopped a vehicle matching the description, and discovered White had a warrant out for his arrest.
Items purchased with the stolen credit cards were discovered in the vehicle.
Drake was arrested for third-degree burglary, theft, fraudulent use of a credit card, forgery of a credit card, possession of burglary tools, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
White was arrested for the warrant, forgery of a credit card and fraudulent use of a credit card. Engler said both Mesa men were booked into the Gila County Jail in Payson.
