Dozens of Payson Area Habitat for Humanity volunteers gathered at a lot on the corner of W. Longhorn Road and North McLane Saturday morning to kick off a new effort.
PAHH purchased the parcel of land on the southwest corner of the intersection just west of Payson High School for the purpose of building seven duplexes.
With property values escalating and availability of property diminishing, the PAHH board believes this concept is a good alternative for the organization to keep the momentum going in their mission to provide affordable housing for those in need over the next few years.
Sub-dividing and house plans are in the design stage.
The lot clearing was done to minimize the fire hazard.
