Christopher Creek Melodrama Ready For Stage

Practice, practice and more practice, that's just what we have been doing since January, and I am still not sure I got it right, but I sure am having fun. The Christopher Creek Melodrama is getting close. The first performance will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 29. There will be performances on Friday, and two on Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Christopher Creek.

Actors in this year's Christopher Creek melodrama are (left to right) Richard Haddad, Pamela Stevens, Marsha Ward and Dan Hill.

This year's melodrama is titled "The Great Ice Cream Scheme or Robin Baskins (Dan Hill) to the Rescue." Yours truly will be playing one of the old ladies who owns the ice cream parlor along with Karen Jacobs who is playing my sister.

Richard Haddad plays the villain, IC Custard, and Pamela Steven plays the villainess, Parfait Deluxe. Together these two will keep you in stitches. Vicky Grootegoed is putting finishing touches on the costumes and they are looking really good.

Charlie Martin does the scenery and she is doing a fantastic job this year. Wanda Palmer and Linda Croy have us practicing our musical parts and this is a melodrama you don't want to miss.

Mark your calendars and come out for a fun night of laughter. You can even "boo" the villain, or for that matter you can "boo" me. Just come out and enjoy one of the performances. I guarantee it will be a night of entertainment you won't forget.

This is a free melodrama that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints puts on every year for the residents of Christopher Creek. Although it is free, you must still call for a ticket, and to see which nights are available.

Annette Godfrey is in charge of tickets. Call (928) 468-7416.

The Christopher/Kohl's Fire Department is offering free CPR classes for the community. Chief Ray Larsen, Paul Koivisto and Margie Larsen are all certified instructors with a new curriculum.

Sign up is required and there is a sign-up sheet at the fire station. You could save a loved one with CPR training. So, sign up for CPR classes for your family and friends.

For more information, call the station at (928) 478-4011.
