Mazatzal Casino is proud to announce a series of promotions at the executive level.
Michael Kitts, who worked until recently as the Food and Beverage Director, has been named to the new position of Hospitality Director, with oversight of both Food and Beverage and Hotel planning and operations.
Farrell Hoosava has been promoted from Facilities Director to the new position of Gaming Director, with oversight of Slots, Bingo, Keno and Table Games operations, and Facilities Manager Lorne Cory has been named to the position of Facilities Director.
Kitts has been in the restaurant industry for most of his career. Originally from California, he graduated from Cal Polytechnic University in Southern California where he majored in hotel restaurant management.
He pursued his career with a growing dynamic restaurant group called Bobby McGee's Conglomeration. He began as a general manager and quickly became district manager in Arizona. He then assumed the duties of the regional manager in Northern California where he was instrumental in developing the hotel sector of Embassy Suites in Burlingame, Calif.
After the success of this opening, he was asked to open three additional properties, including the first East Coast operation in Charlotte, N.C.
Kitts gained respect for his talents and was promoted to director of operations for the entire Bobby McGee's Organization. He was also promoted as vice president of Performance Restaurant Group, formerly known as Bobby McGee's and acquired multiple concepts into the company which included an upscale sports bar/nightclub in Las Vegas and Scottsdale called Buster's.
Following his work with Performance Restaurant Group, Kitts transitioned into a career in the golf industry as the general manager of a 27-hole golf course facility in Southern California, owned by the Arnold Palmer Management Group. He relocated back to Arizona and joined American Golf Management Co. and became active with Tatum Ranch Golf Club.
Kitts returned to the restaurant industry when he was signed on to open a new high-end steakhouse from New York called Angelo & Maxie's based in the central Biltmore area of Phoenix.
Kitts, his wife Robin, and two sons, Danny and Andrew, now live in Payson. The Kitts boys are actively involved in the Payson Little League, which has been a highlight for the Kitts family.
Hoosava is a local man whose career at Mazatzal Casino has included work as safety manager and facilities director.
Cory was born in Toronto, Canada. However, he is practically a native Arizonan as he was only 7 years old when he moved to Phoenix.
While in Phoenix, he was the foreman of Westinghouse Electric Corporation for 11 years and the engineering manager and head of emergency response at Allied Signal Corporation for 14 years.
After living in the Valley for many years, he moved to Payson in 1994 and worked for the Payson Unified School District as its maintenance manager.
Cory began working at Mazatzal Casino as the facilities manager in 2004 and worked his way up to facilities director.
He is an 11-year member of the Gila County Sheriff's Posse and currently is a sergeant with the group and its director of public relations.
Cory has four grown children. His youngest, Colin Cory, graduated from Payson High School and is presently in Air Force Special Operations. The younger Cory has served in Iraq and is now based in England.
In addition to Kitts, Hoosava and Cory, the executive staff consists of Steven Salatti, finance director, Kathy Hinton, human resources director and Farrell Thompson, marketing director.
All activities and employees of the casino report to one of these directors, each of whom in turn reports to James McDermott, general manager of the Mazatzal Casino.
