Q: Are the trees along Payson Parkway bordering Rumsey Park being allowed to die?

A: The cypress trees have picked up some kind of bug this last year and have not responded well to treatment, according to parks and recreation director Bill Schwind. They were originally put up to protect residences from ball field dust. This summer the ball fields are going to be turfed, then the parks department will decide whether to replace the cypress with cedars, a green hedge or a fence.
