As I drive to work each morning, I see rabbits, squirrels, birds, deer and elk along the road and think how we take our forest for granted.
Please, everyone, be careful with our forests so that we will all have a home.
The 50,000 gallon bladder tank has been filled. It took 25 loads of water with our 2,000 gallon water tender to fill this gigantic bladder tank. Thanks to Camp Geronimo Ranger Ted Julius for providing the easy truck filler port and all of the water to fill the tank.
Brooke Utilities recently installed a new water meter for the Geronimo Fire Station as directed by the Arizona Corporation Commission. Thanks again to Harry Jones for making this possible.
The Boy Scout Camp is now open for the summer and the Control Road is very busy. Please be careful when driving, especially on weekends.
The Ladies Sewing Group in the District is still meeting at the church in Whispering Pines every Wednesday from 1 to 4 p.m. You are welcome to bring your sewing machine and join in.
The Fourth Annual Whispering Pines Fourth of July Parade will be held on Saturday, July 1 at 10:30 a.m. The parade route will be from the church to the Fire Station on Houston Mesa Road. All entries stage at the church, on the corner of Control Road and Houston Mesa Road, at 10 a.m.

There will be a barbecue at the Fire Station after the parade. There will be no accommodations at the Fire Station for your pets. If you have animals in the parade, please make your own arrangements for their care.
The next WPFD Auxiliary meeting will be at Nancy Jones' home in Rim Trail on July 10 at 1:30 p.m. Come and join the auxiliary and help support our firefighters.
The Chase Creek brush pit on FSR32 will be open on Sunday, June 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Brush only, no trash.
Whispering Pines Fire District
The monthly Family Movie Night will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 24 at Whispering Pines Station 71. The movie will be the Award Winning "Pink Panther" with Kevin Kline, Beyonce Knowles and Steve Martin. There will be popcorn, candy and sodas. Prizes will be provided. Come on over for a fun time.
The next Pancake Breakfast will be on Saturday, July 8 from 8 to 10 a.m. There will be various flavors of pancakes, along with sausage, bacon, juice and coffee.
If you are in our neighborhood, stop by Whispering Pines Station 71 and have breakfast with us.
The next WPFD Board meeting will be on Wednesday, July 12 at 6 p.m.
