A small plane en route to Payson Regional Airport from an airfield in Queen Creek crashed June 18, killing all four aboard.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Mike Fergus said the crash occurred at 7:25 a.m., 45 miles north of Phoenix.
The deceased, according to Yavapai County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Susan Quayle, were pilot Mark Allen Hawkins, 51, Gene Cornwell, 46, Heath Edward Cornwell, 28, and Landon Ryan Palomo, 28.
Quayle said Hawkins and the Cornwells were from Queen Creek and Palomo was from Gilbert.
Quayle said none of the four had any connection to the Rim Country.
She said the Cessna 180 plane crashed in Bloody Basin, which is accessible only by air.
Fergus said the FAA and the National Safety Transportation Board will each conduct its own investigation into the crash.
Quayle said the cause of the crash will be determined by the FAA.
