15 Booths Left For April's Business Showcase

Residents of the Rim Country will have a one-stop shop to learn about more than 50 businesses and services in the area at the 14th Annual Business Showcase in April.

Registration for the popular event just opened but space is limited, said John Stanton, business coordinator for the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce and director of the Business Showcase. About 35 past participants took advantage of the special early registration, leaving only 15 to 17 spaces available.

"We have had great return participation," Stanton said. In the past, the Showcase was held in a large tent. This year, it is being held at the Tonto Apache Gymnasium, making space an even greater premium.

Open registration started March 1 and will continue through April 1. The basic cost for inside booths is $200 for chamber members and $275 for nonmembers, with additional fees for such things as electricity on perimeter booths and table and chair rental. There will also be outside space rented, small areas (10 feet by 20 feet) will cost $175 for chamber members and $210 for nonmembers. Large areas (20 feet by 20 feet) will rent for $250 for chamber members and $300 for nonmembers. As with inside space, there are extra charges for electricity, table and chair rentals.

There will be six food vendor spaces with electricity, costing $75 per space. The selection of food vendors will be made by the showcase committee.

Late registrations will be taken, if there is available space, from April 1 through April 11. There is an added $50 fee for late registration.

"We didn't increase any of our prices this year," Stanton said.

In addition to registration for participants, sponsorships at the Contributing Sponsor ($500) and Friend of the Showcase ($350) levels are available through March 15.

The showcase is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 15. There is no admission fee and all booths will give away a prize, worth at least $25.

Eight prizes will be awarded to the participants, including Best Display, Best Business Presentation and Best of Show.

Businesses are not allowed to sell products at the event, only to advertise their services, but the showcase is where connections are made.

This year the chamber has partnered with the Tonto Apache Tribe to present the showcase.

The purpose of the showcase is to introduce the public to what businesses and services are available in the Rim Country and to help business owners get better acquainted.
