Diamond Star Appoints Rappaport To Blue Ridge Water Committee

The Diamond Star Town Council appointed Bill Rappaport to chair a Blue Ridge Water Committee at its regular meeting last week.

Rappaport said he intends to work closely with the Tonto Apache Tribe and the communities of Pine, Strawberry, Whispering Pines and Mesa del Caballo.

"We're going to be in touch with everybody that has an interest in this," he said. "We're going to form a committee and get everybody on this."

The council also voted to meet with the Arizona Department of Transportation for an update on the Highway 260 improvement project.

"We're trying to find out what is the latest alignment and when is it on the agenda to be done, because ADOT keeps bumping some of these improvement projects up here for what they consider more pressing projects in the Valley," Councilor Chuck Heron said. "We've got some things we want to look at in terms of where we locate our town offices and obviously that alignment will have an impact on it."

The council also approved a proposal by Randy Roberson of Global Media, Inc. to create a town Web site.
