Lilla Webb Hepworth


Lilla Webb Hepworth died March 8, 2006. She resided at Ordinary Lifestyles Group Home in Payson. She was born March 11, 1910 in Christiana, Jamaica, to Joseph and Sarah Webb.

Early in her life, the family immigrated to the United States where she became a naturalized citizen. She was one of 11 brothers and sisters, of which her sister Ella King of Boise, Idaho is the sole survivor.

Mrs. Hepworth was married in 1934 to Clare Hepworth, who preceded her in death in 1971.

She was a 1931 graduate of Arizona State University and served as a teacher in Arizona and Saudi Arabia, as she traveled with her husband during his career as a civil engineer.

During her life, Mrs. Hepworth was active in her church, and in community service organizations.

She is survived by two sons, Edward, a retired electrical engineer, and now pastor of Christopher Creek Bible Fellowship, living at Kohl's Ranch; and, Kent, emeritus professor of mechanical engineering at Northern Arizona University, now a resident of Powell, Tenn.

Mrs. Hepworth has four grandchildren: Linda, Sharon, Donald, and Sarah, and one great-grandchild, Avery.

Memorial services for Mrs. Hepworth will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 14 at Christopher Creek Bible Fellowship Chapel, located on Christopher Creek Loop, Christopher Creek. She will be interred at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, beside her husband, Clare, at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery, 2300 W. Van Buren in Phoenix.
