George Pickett, son of Alva and Hazel (Floyd) Pickett, died March 13, 2006. He was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on April 5, 1926.

Mr. Pickett served in the Navy for two years, from 1943 to 1945.

He graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Forestry. He worked for the US Forest Service for 32 years, with positions in Oregon, Arizona and New Mexico.

Mr. Pickett was a member of the Society of American Foresters, a longtime member of the National Association for Active and Retired Federal Employees, a member of the Payson United Methodist Church and he volunteered at the Julia Randall Elementary School for 23 years, working with the first-grade class.

He is survived by his wife, Thea (Potter) Pickett; brother, Eugene (Lutitia); sister, Marilyn (Larry) Reece; sons, Robert (Terry) Pickett, Paul (Susan) Pickett; four grandchildren: Nina (Brian) Alexander, Melanie Pickett, Toby Pickett, Doyne (Tammy) Pickett; and three great-grandchildren: Samantha Alexander, Ethan Alexander and Emily Alexander; his adopted family, the Parish family, and close nephew Ray (Lenora) Roseland, and many other nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 18, at Payson United Methodist Church, 414 N. Easy St.
