George James Brady, 86, of Payson, died on March 26, 2006 in Payson. He was born Jan. 31, 1920, and was raised in Redding and Hollywood, Calif. He graduated from Hollywood High School.
He enlisted in the Army, where he served four years, and joined an antiaircraft unit. Mr. Brady served in the European theater and was in the Battle of the Bulge.
He met his wife Rose Marie at the USO in LaCrosse, Wis. while on special duty at Camp McCoy. They were married in LaCrosse in June 1945.
They lived in Hollywood and North Hollywood for a number of years. Daughters Deborah and Patricia were born in Burbank, Calif.
The family moved to Phoenix in 1964 where Mr. Brady pursued his career as a machinist. They moved to Payson in 1974 where he opened his own machine shop (Payson Machine Works).
Mr. Brady was an active member of bowling teams at Payson Bowl for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rose Marie; daughters: Deborah (David) Stephenson and Patricia (Doc) Wilson; nine grandchildren: Holley Allen, Keren, Paul, Michael, Lynn, Daniel, Anna Stephenson, Joshua and Kaylee Wilson; four great-grandchildren: Tyler, Katie Marie, Ryan Allen, and Malakai Stephenson.
Services for the celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. April 11 at Messinger Payson Funeral Home, 302 W. Aero Dr. in Payson.
