Applications For Barriger's Council Seat


The Tuesday, May 2 Payson Town Council meeting to select a replacement for outgoing Councilor George Barriger has been rescheduled for Thursday, May 4 at 5 p.m. at town hall.

The council will consider three applicants:

Jon Barber, construction supervisor, SRJ Construction

Length of residency: 11.5 years
Past civic leadership roles: Building Advisory Board, Airport Advisory Committee; Citizens Leadership Academy
Major issue facing Payson:
"Making sure we maintain an adequate water supply for the current population and aggressively pursue new supplies to meet the demand for growth."

Andy Romance, engineer

Past civic leadership roles: Green Valley Redevelopment Area Committee.
Length of residency: 19 years
Major issue facing Payson:
"We can only ask the citizens to conserve so much water, to continue to pay more and more for housing without compatible wages and to walk dangerously on streets instead of safe pathways for so long before we watch our neighbors leave town for greener pastures."

Dick Wolfe, retired civil servant, silversmith

Length of residency: 14 years
Past civic leadership roles: Payson Town councilor and vice mayor; Payson Planning and Zoning commissioner; Green Valley Redevelopment Area Committee; Main Street board of director.
Major issue facing Payson: "Economic development to insure a reliable revenue stream to fund necessary services."
