Less Than Half Of Registered Voters Have Placed Ballots

In 12 days, the seven-month mayoral and town council election draws to its conclusion. The deadline to cast votes is 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 16.

Town Clerk Silvia Smith encourages voters to mail ballots as soon as possible. "If it's not mailed by May 11," she said, "they should start walking them in."

Since the primary, 239 more voters registered, bringing the final tally to 8,829. As of May 4, 3,922 ballots had been received for the general election.

Ballot processing begins at 9 a.m. May 15 and continues the following day until all votes are counted.

Preliminary results will be announced at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, and the final count is expected at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 18.
