Robert Earl Beverley, Sr., 83, of Strawberry, died May 2, 2006 in Payson. He was born Aug. 18, 1922 in Carlisle, Iowa.
Mr. Beverley attended Northwestern University, where he received a bachelor's in Music Education and a master's in music. He was a lifetime member of the Musician's Union.
He was principal clarinettist of the Duluth Symphony Orchestra in Minnesota from 1947 to 1966. He was a freelance musician and teacher in Minneapolis-St. Paul from 1969 to 1990.
He retired to Strawberry in 1991 where he played woodwinds with the Rim Civic Orchestra.
He is survived by his daughter, Ellen Beverley McNamara of Lakewood, Colo.; sons: John W. Beverley of Wacoma, Minn., Robert E. Beverley, Jr., of Flagstaff., and James H. Beverley of Alexandria, Va.; sister, Betty Beverley Dreiese Bliss; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Ann Beverley; parents: John Earl and Jesse Alberta Leftwich Beverley; and sister, Dorothy Beverley Bodamer.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 5 at Messinger Payson Funeral Home.
