The Beer and Brats fund-raiser to benefit the Northern Gila County Historical Society is, after five years, the monetary mainstay of this all-volunteer organization.
"They get no money from any place else," said Docent Judy Buettner. "It preserves the local heritage. Not only for Payson, but for the Rim Country."
Money raised at the benefit -- coined "Where'd the Cowboys Go?" -- also helps support the Museum of Rim Country Archeology and the Marguerite Noble Library.
"This is the repository of Rim Country history," Buettner said.
The brats are provided by Charlie's meats.
Beer, wine, nonalcoholic beverages, and cheese complete the event's culinary element.
The fun begins at 5 p.m. Friday, May 12, at the Rim Country Museum, 700 Green Valley Parkway. Local historian Jinx Pyle will provide Western-themed entertainment.
"It's a real fun annual event and I'm hoping people will come out and join us," Buettner said.
Tickets are $15 and are available at the museum, (928) 474-3483 or from any board member.
