Our old coffee maker died the other morning. So, we had to replace it with a new one. The pot had measurements on the side up to 12 cups in two-cup increments. Imagine our surprise when the six cups we made only filled our two eight-ounce cups twice.
Time to do a little investigating. We filled a standard 16-ounce measuring cup with water and poured it in the pot. Yep, it went well above the two-cup mark. Seems that the new pot considers six ounces as a cupful, instead of the regulation eight ounces. I remember when the pound can of coffee was reduced to its current 13 ounces. But now they've even shrunk the cup.
