Firefighters race to extinguish a blaze started by two boys playing with matches in the mountain community of Strawberry Friday afternoon.

Winds and dry brush fueled the flames, which spread quickly to within 150 feet of nearby homes and businesses.

Thanks to a cooperative effort by area firefighting agencies the fire was extinguished without the loss of property.

Fast-acting residents, business owners and patrons initially joined together to attack the fire with fire extinguishers and hoses.

The two boys have taken responsibility for the blaze and an investigation in under way.
