More To The Story Of The Senior Center

Editor:

Isn't it interesting that in all the letters to the Payson Roundup concerning the Payson Senior Center situation, none have addressed the welfare of the seniors and the organization as the prime concerns.

The interim board is investigating several alleged shortfalls such as the corporation status lapse due to the absence of required annual reports, the firing of the executive director even though she received evaluations dated May 19, 2005 and January 2006 stating "above expectations" and "exceeds in most measured categories," the Town of Payson grant monies effective July 1, 2005 to June 30, 2006 not being administered in a required time frame, building maintenance as requested by staff was not acted on in a timely manner.

Letters were sent on May 10 by the former board to Senior Center members that caused apprehension of the possible closure of the Center.

The "Center" continues to deliver 107 Meals on Wheels daily and are providing other activities as usual. Staff members continue to receive their salaries.

Seniors, rest assured that the interim board has your best interests at heart, Marsha Cauley has been reinstated by the membership.

We care about your welfare, seniors.

Larry and Patricia Frisbie, Payson
