Payson's municipal swimming pool, Taylor Pool, opened for business May 27 and will close July 25, prior to the school year resuming.
Every afternoon, from 1 to 5 p.m., the pool is available for open swimming. Admission is $2 per person. Daily pool passes are offered -- 10 for $15 -- at the Payson Parks and Recreation office in Green Valley Park.
At the pool
The pool is used for a variety of programs during other hours of the day:
Swim Team, 6:30 a.m. to 8:25 a.m.
Fitness Hour, 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Swim Lessons, Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 12:25 p.m.
Parent and Tot, Fridays only, 10 a.m. to noon
Fitness Hour, 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Swim Team is for young people, ages 7 to 18, and costs $50 per child. Contests are at Taylor Pool on Saturdays.
The Fitness Hour programs are for those 18 and older and cost $50 for the full season -- $25 after June 25. Participants may do laps or be led through an exercise program by a qualified instructor.
Swimming lessons will be offered in three, two-week periods, June 5-15, registration is May 22-June 2; June 19-29, register June 5-16; July 10-20, register June 19-July 8. The lessons are $20 per session.
Parent and Tot time costs $2 per visit for the parent and a child under 4. No instruction is provided, but lifeguards will be on duty.
Taylor Pool can also be rented for private functions.
