Golfer No Stranger To Winner's Podium

Kay Davis is no stranger to the Payson Women's Golf Association Memorial Tournament victory stand.

In 2003 and 2004, she teamed with Sharon Vaplon to win the championship of the annual links fray. The following year, the two made it to the stand once again, but this time as a third place team.

In the 2006 tournament, Davis was first partnered with Isabella Sockrider. In the two-person best ball formatted skirmish, played in memory of PWGA members who have died, Davis

and Sockrider teamed up for a winning score of 56.

Davis also pocketed closest to the pin prize money on par 3 No. 17 with a tee shot that rolled to within 15 feet, 5 inches of the flag.

Second place in the Memorial shoot out was garnered by Laura Meyocks and Mary Cain with a 57.

Cain entered the defending tournament champion, having partnered in 2005 with Jeannie Griffin for a win.

In 2006, Griffin joined forces with Jan Burns for a card of 61 and a fourth place showing.

Third was garnered by Nancy Little and Judy Neal, who posted a 58.

In the closest to the pin competition, Cain's lie on No. 5 of 3 feet, 7 inches earned her prize money.

Following the tournament, the members enjoyed a 19th hole pizza party. Anyone interested in joining the PWGA should call (928) 476-0356 for more information.
