Payson's Junior Thespian Troupe was started by Payson High School Drama Department director Kathy Siler and then seniors Anita Meggitt and Mick Stern. The troupe continued in subsequent years through the efforts of recent PHS graduates Calvin Legassie and Carina Peters.
The group of aspiring actors and theatre technicians is open to any local child in sixth, seventh or eighth grade.
This year, they met twice a week after school at PHS, learning theatre terms, techniques and craft. They produced "Old Folks Home" by Vern Harden in the fall, wrote and performed skits about bullying for RCMS Power Day and produced "Hillbilly Hankerin'" by Pat Cook in the spring. On Tuesday, May 23, 25 members of the group joined the International Thespian Society as Junior Thespians.
Siler congratulates juniors and thanks volunteers Ryan Amman and Brad Johnson.
