While our days are still warm, the nights have become cooler and are just right for a bowl of chili. And the Friends of the Payson Humane Society will have a bowl of spicy warmth ready and waiting for everyone at its 10th annual chili supper.
The Friends of Payson Humane Society are getting ready for the supper now. It will feature chili from Macky's Grill and will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14 at the Elks Lodge on Airport Road. The menu will consist of chili, macaroni and cheese, salad, rolls, and homemade cupcakes.
There will be a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle, and "potluck" sales (selling decorated flowerpots which come with an additional gift). The final raffle tickets for both the dog quilt and the Friends of Ferals cat quilt will be sold, with the winners drawn at the end of the evening.
Donations for the silent auction ($50 value or greater, please), or something of lesser value to use as a gift with a flowerpot, please contact Penny at (928) 474-4648.
Help at the event and homemade cupcakes are also needed, call Penny to sign up.
"We raised about $7,000 last year," said Donna Hopkins, a volunteer with the society, "and we're hoping to do better this year. It's a lot of fun for everyone."
Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for children. They may be purchased at the Payson Humane Society Animal Shelter, 812 S. McLane Road, or at the Payson Public Library, 328 N. McLane Road, or from any member of the humane society's board of directors.
