As the supervisor of the Payson Child Protective Services' (CPS) office, I wish to express a "thank you" from the staff and myself, the supervisors from all the offices in Gila and Pinal Counties, District Management and all the families who enter our office. This "thank you" is given wholeheartedly to the Optimist Club, who organized a cooperative community effort to help CPS.
Not only does our children's room and our lobby look wonderful because of the murals and new furniture, television sets, books, videos, DVDs and toys and rest mats in each room, but we are now also able to provide the books, etc. to the children we serve.
We wish to publicly thank all the individuals, businesses and organizations that helped this makeover happen. They include:
Ace Hardware (Payson), hardware for benches
Amon Builders, bean bag chair and rest mats
Diana Atchley, interior design consultation
Randy Dawson, electrical work
Foxworth-Galbraith and Mogollon Development, lumber, stain, hardware for furniture
Karsten's Ace Hardware (Cave Creek), paint
Legacy Furniture, table and chairs
Main Street Paint, paint
Neumann Paint, paint
Jason Pettifield (Roundup photographer), picture for Optimist Club thank-you cards
Payson High School staff and students who built and installed the furniture
Wal-Mart Supercenter, grant, used to purchase TVs and other items for the rooms
We would like also to thank all those who have and are continuing to donate books, videos, DVDs and toys that have been received mostly from yard sales. Not only have they come from Payson residents, but also from Phoenix, Mesa, Surprise, Carefree, Chandler, Fountain Hills, Queen Creek and Optimist members.
Above all, we thank Harry Young for sharing his art talent and giving all those many hours to create and complete our murals.
I guess it is easy to understand why the Optimist Club named its project, "It Takes a Community to Raise our Youth."
Mary Meyers, Payson
