National Public Radio is now available in Payson on 93.5 FM. KNAU Arizona Public Radio, broadcasting from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, has constructed a new transmitter at the Diamond Point communications site east of Payson.
The signal covers Payson, Star Valley, Tonto Village and Tonto Natural Bridge. KNAU installed the transmitter in late October.
KNAU broadcasts a format of NPR news and classical music along with entertainment programs such as "Car Talk" and "A Prairie Home Companion." The radio station's complete schedule is available online at www.knau.org.
"Payson residents have long requested a better public radio signal," says KNAU General Manager John Stark. "We acquired the 93.5 frequency from the FCC in a recent filing window. We are thrilled to bring a reliable signal to Rim Country."
