Regular races among the candidates for fire district board seats were settled Nov. 7.

In northern Gila County, six districts had write-in candidates, so those election results had to be counted by hand.

The Tonto Village Fire District had a two-man race for its one seat. Contestants were William Tonstad and Frederick Washburn. According to unofficial results from the Gila County Elections Office the race was won by Washburn with 60 votes to Tonstad's 17 votes.

The other districts and the write-in candidates seeking open seats included: Beaver Valley where Marian A. Geissel received 19 votes and Richard Harpster, who had 21 votes; Diamond Star with Charles Conover getting 6 votes; Gisela had three seats open, but only a single write-in candidate, Theresa Hernandez, who had 45 votes; Round Valley/Oxbow Estates write-ins were Patricia Albritton, who had 26 votes, and Larry K. White, who received 26 votes; Whispering Pines write-ins were Penny I. Hull, with 51 votes; Harry D. Jones, with 53; and Donald R. King with 46.

All election results remain unofficial until the Gila County Board of Supervisors hears the canvass on Tuesday, Nov. 21.
