In January, Rim Country residents can make plans for dinner and a movie and not worry about changing parking spaces.
The popular Payson restaurant, Macky's Grill, is moving next door to Sawmill Theatres, just north of the movie complex.
"We're in the hurry-up-and-wait stage," said owner/founder Cari Day. "We're anxious to start on the new site."
The restaurant will have about the same square footage as it has in its present location on the Beeline Highway.
After winning multiple "Best of Payson" awards in the annual Payson Roundup contest, there are no plans for any drastic menu changes.
"We have the philosophy, ‘If it ain't broke, don't fix it,'" Day said.
Macky's will bring its Western theme to its new home, along with all its popular dishes and terrific staff, Day said. There are plans to add a couple of new drinks to the beer and wine selection, including margaritas, and a few new food choices. But diners can be sure to find favorites like Macky's specialty burgers, Philly cheese steaks and salads.
Manager Kristy Ulmer is excited about the move.
"Moving into a restaurant designed by us -- all new equipment and fresh, modern Western decor -- we'll just be taking an already awesome Macky's and making it that much better. We're also lucky to have our assistant manager, Janice Shores, as our in-house decorator. She is amazing."
Currently, between 30 and 40 people work for Macky's, and the Days will probably be hiring smiling, hard-working additions in December.
"We get numerous comments about our consistency, both with our food and our always-friendly staff," Cari said.
"We are known for our teamwork," Cari said. "Some customers laugh that during a meal they have five different people come up and make sure they were happy."
To top off the big move, Macky's will also celebrate its 10th anniversary in January.
"We want to have a soft opening, but then we'll have a grand opening and anniversary celebration toward the end of the month," Cari said.
