A Prescott Valley man was killed Sunday afternoon after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck near Strawberry on the Beeline Highway.
At about 12:25 p.m. Sunday, George Green IV was traveling northbound on Highway 87 two miles from Strawberry when he attempted to pass a vehicle on a curve, crossing the center line before colliding head-on with a pickup truck.
Department of Public Safety Police Officer John Whetten said the impact of the collision threw Green through the windshield of the pickup truck before he rolled off the hood onto the ground.
Whetten said Green died almost instantly.
The driver of the pickup, Rick Peters, 51, of Flagstaff, was airlifted to Scottsdale Osborn Healthcare where he was treated and released.
The DPS police officer said the location of the crash is a dangerous stretch of roadway. Within two miles of Sunday's accident, there were five fatalities this past summer.
