A Payson resident was arrested Monday morning on after police were informed there was a man firing a gun at vehicles and buildings.
James Arthur Hesson, 39, was arrested at 11:40 a.m. after trying to flee from Payson police.
Hesson, who officers believe was under the influence of methamphetamines at the time of the incident, had obtained a firearm and was shooting at buildings and vehicles near Good Now Road, said Payson Police Commander Don Engler.
Police officers saw Hesson at the location and tried to stop him, but he drove away with police in pursuit.
Engler said Hesson turned onto Clark Road and proceeded to go northbound before coming to a brick wall that dead ends the street.
Police arrested him at that location for discharging a firearm at a structure, two counts of misconduct involving weapons, unlawful flight from law enforcement officials, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI drugs and hit and run.
