Learning Made Fun During Fall Break

Blue whales weigh more than 250 elephants.

The earth is filled with melted rock.

Salt and sweet are tasted on the tip of the tongue.

Those are a few of the things 60 students learned at Julia Randall Elementary School during the first week of fall break.

"The interim session is for those students who need a boost," said Alan Ammann, a fifth-grade teacher at JRE.

"It gives (teachers) an opportunity to relate to students on a little different level than regular class time."

The atmosphere is casual and fun during the three-hour, four-day sessions.

Student/teacher ratio was about 6-to-1.
