Jake Would Be Lost Without Snoozer

The Payson Humane Society will have a pet adoption event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 at the off-leash dog park next to the Payson Library on North McLane Road. This adoption event is in conjunction with Dog Day in the Park, sponsored by PAWS in the Park.

Several dogs will be available for adoption. They will be spayed or neutered, have all current shots, and will have a microchip for identification.

The shelter is very overcrowded with dogs right now; we desperately need to find homes for these great dogs. Come meet your new best friend!

In the meantime, here are some wonderful pets waiting for homes right now. Meet them at the animal shelter located at 812 S. McLane Rd., or call 474-5590 for more information.

Jake is a beautiful, 2-year-old male black lab mix. He has a gorgeous, shiny coat. One look into those soulful eyes of his and you'll melt and get to know his personality. Jake is very affectionate and is pretty easy to walk. He's good with kids and OK with cats. He gets along well with other dogs, and he's housebroken.

Snoozer, Jake's sister, is a 2-year-old female lab mix. She's a little shy, but very lovable. She walks well on the leash, staying very close to her person. She's good with kids, cats and other dogs. Snoozer is also housebroken.

Jake and Snoozer need to be adopted together (for a special price), as they would be lost without each other. Any home would be lucky to get this pair. How about yours?

Chester is a male Rottweiler mix, about 6 years old. He's a big guy, but easy to handle. Try giving him a treat; you'll be amazed at how gently he takes it,

He's very affectionate, but may not be good with cats or very small dogs. He plays well with other dogs.

He needs a forever home. How about yours?

Kayly is a sweet and social kitten.

She loves to snuggle with other cats and people.

She is looking forward to being part of a family.

As you can see from the picture, there are so many kittens they are spilling out of their house.

Come see all the precious kittens and other critters available for adoption at Payson Humane Society animal shelter.

Get ready for chili

The 10th annual chili supper benefit for the Payson Humane Society will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14 at the Elks Lodge.

The menu will consist of chili, mac and cheese, salad, rolls and homemade cupcakes.

We will once again feature silent auction items, a 50/50 raffle and "potluck" sales (selling decorated flowerpots which come with an additional gift). We will also be selling the final raffle tickets for both the dog quilt and the Friends of Ferals cat quilt, and will draw the winners for these two adorable quilts at the end of the evening.

This is one of our largest fund-raisers of the year, with the money earned going toward daily operating expenses for the shelter. Last year we raised over $7,000 for the homeless animals of Rim Country. Please join us in making this year's event just as successful.

If you have something to donate for the silent auction ($50 value or greater, please), or something of lesser value to use as a gift with a flowerpot, please contact Penny at 474-4648. Also, if you can donate some time to help out during the event or make cupcakes for the event, please call Penny to sign up.
