Robert J. Lee


Robert J. Lee, 69, of Pine, died peacefully with his family around him Oct. 17, 2006 in Mesa. He was born to Joseph and Delphia Lee, Oct. 26, 1936 in Tropic, Utah, one of eight children.

His family moved to Arizona when he was 12. He attended Phoenix Tech High School from 1951 to 1954. He married Carol Lee Olsen in 1954, and they enjoyed more than 50 years together. The Lees moved to Strawberry in 1962.

A loving father, he enjoyed taking his family camping, picnicking and on family vacations.

He was a craftsman carpenter by trade and passed on his craft to his sons. He was involved in the Tonto Rim Search and Rescue, serving as president, the volunteer fire department and helped to restore the Strawberry Schoolhouse. In recent years, he restored his 1930 model A Ford and was an active member in the Rim Country Classic Auto Club, where he and his wife greatly enjoyed the association of friends.

Bob is survived by his children: Ron (Shari) Lee; Diana (Mike) McLaws; son-in-law, David Perry; Brian (Denise) Lee; Don (Denise) Lee; sisters: Roma Hansen, Dorothy (Ed) Chesley, Dixie (Jerry) Acton, and Gloria Hedpeth; and brother, Danny (Becky) Lee; 17 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carol Lee and daughter, Brenda Perry; brothers: Lloyd (Lael) Lee and Bud (Joan) Lee.

A viewing will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel in Pine, Ariz., services will follow at 2 p.m. Interment will be at the Pine Cemetery.
