Balance in life is good. Unfortunately, as a semi-astute political observer and a rabid independent voter, I see both our Arizona Legislature and our U.S. Congress as being out of balance. If absolute power corrupts absolutely, having one political party in charge invites corruption, indifference, and partisan posturing.
Voting in a Democratic Senate in Arizona and in the U.S. Congress might force legislators to communicate, compromise and cooperate. A purely Democratic or Republican Arizona Legislature or U.S. Congress is not in our collective best interests.
Restoring "balance" to both our Arizona Legislature and to our U.S. Congress should be a high priority for independent-thinking voters come this Nov. 7.
