Ross Hage, one of Payson's local Edward Jones investment representatives, will host a "Small Business Planning Strategies" professional broadcast course at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at his office, 113 W. Main St., Suite A.

This program explores eight planning strategies, with which many CPAs and attorneys should be familiar, to help provide clients with the latest cutting-edge planning options for their small businesses.

The program focuses on those plans that are of general applicability to the widest selection of clients.

This course is approved for three (3) credit hours of continuing professional education and continuing legal education for attorneys, CPAs and tax professionals.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Implementing Section 199 -- Making sure clients maximize their domestic production activities deduction
  • How to make cost segregation work and help clients maximize the benefit association with taking depreciation deductions
  • Family income-shifting techniques that really work
  • Strategies for reducing the cost of employee health care
  • When choosing a tax or business entity really makes a difference
  • How to minimize payroll and self-employment taxes
