Nancy Corliss Peifer

Nancy Corliss Peifer was born Jan. 17, 1936 in Seward, Alaska.

She married Archie Corliss in 1956 and moved to Phoenix, Ariz. The couple had three children, Robert, Jack and Lori.

Mrs. Peifer is survived by her husband, Archie, Jack, Carol and Michael Peifer of Glendale and Patrick, Lori, Kade and Jace Abshire. Robert died at 45 of pneumonia.

Mrs. Peifer was educated in health care at Arizona State University and Phoenix College. She was the first female personnel director of Maryvale Hospital. Later she served as office manager for Canyon Orthopedic Surgeons, retiring from there after 25 years. She also worked in private practice, her last position was as an assisted living aide at Baptist Village Retirement Center where she attended church. She also attended West Congregational Church in Maryvale and Rim Christian Church in Payson.

She and her family were very active in Little League and Pop Warner, and were members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for 40 years.

She was honored as Arizona State Mrs. Eagle and Arizona State Mother. She held offices in the Eagles, assisting in charitable events and memorials.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Glendale, 7575 North 67th Avenue. Donations or memorials may be given to Eagles Cancer Fund.
