Two Payson residents were arrested on drug charges Wednesday morning after police responded to a call that shots were being fired in the 800 block of Sherwood Drive.

Payson Police Commander Don Engler said officers made contact with Lauren Schenck and determined she was being untruthful to them. Believing someone could be hurt in the residence, police entered and located Jason Figaniak, who also lived at the home.

While searching the home for people who may have been injured by the reported gunshot, officers saw marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Police secured the home and obtained a search warrant for the residence.

Engler said police found about one pound of marijuana with a street value between $500 to $700, some pills that have yet to be identified and drug paraphernalia. Schenck was charged with false reporting to police, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Figaniak was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana for sale.

The gunshots turned out to be fireworks.
