County Courts Get Additional Cash For Salaries, Expenses

The Superior and Justice Courts of Gila County are both getting an infusion of cash from the state.

The state is giving more than $2.1 million to the courts: $842,020 to the Superior Court; $784,052 to the Payson Regional Justice Court; and $488,606 to the Globe Regional Justice Court.

"The money is from court collections in Gila County sent to the state and then sent from the state back to us," explained Deputy County Manager John Nelson.

The money is to make sure there are funds available for salaries and other expenses of the courts, he said.

The Gila County Board of Supervisors certified the funds at its Sept. 5 meeting in Globe.
