Q: Is it true there are teachers at the high school who are not certified to teach and one that doesn't have a college education?
A: "In order to be in the classroom, a teacher must have a certificate," wrote Sue Myers, Payson Unified School District superintendent, in an e-mail to the Payson Roundup. "All of our teachers at the high school do have certificates. No Child Left Behind requires that each teacher also be Highly Qualified according to a national rubric in the area they are teaching. A few of our teachers have not yet met that rubric, but are working to become Highly Qualified. We believe that they are doing a good job and will be Highly Qualified soon."
