Star Valley Council To Hear General Plan Proposals

The Star Valley Town Council tonight will listen to a presentation from the Central Association of Governments concerning the town's general plan.

Outgoing Town Manager Lanny Sloan said the town received four bids from agencies that have expressed a desire to be involved in creating the general plan.

CAAG, which is one of the four, will outline to the council their qualities and processes as well as general plans it has created for other cities and towns.

Sloan said the panel received the four proposals, which were then turned over to a committee that the council appointed.

The committee, which has not yet made a decision, will recommend its choice to the council.

Sloan said, CAAG is basically presenting a sales pitch to the council as well as the committee.

"We budgeted for it," he said. "It is something all towns have to do."

Sloan also said the council has expressed a desire to update its zoning code.

Councilor Mary Ann Kotelnicki said she expects the council to vote on the winning proposal at its Oct. 3 meeting.

The town hall meeting will be at 6 p.m. tonight at 4180 E. Highway 260.
