Gila Community College has had a nursing program for about a year. Now, the program will be enhanced through a partnership with Payson Regional Medical Center.

GCC Senior Dean Margo Bracamonte and Chris Wolf, the chief executive officer of PRMC, have identified a plan to bring quality nursing training to Payson area students.

A skills lab for students in the program will be created at PRMC and funds have been earmarked to bring highly qualified nursing instruction to the Payson GCC campus.

Through the program, a well-trained nursing staff for PRMC will be developed.

"Our collaboration with Payson Regional Medical Center is a true milestone for the college's nursing program," Bracamonte said. "This is an exciting time for both the PRMC and the college."

The program will begin accepting applications Nov. 1. Classes begin Jan. 10, 2007. There is room for 20 students.
