Holy Week/Easter Services


Below is a list of Holy Week/Easter Services planned at area churches:

Mount Cross Lutheran

Mount Cross welcomes everyone to attend its upcoming Easter celebrations, including those who don't belong to a particular church or faith. Mount Cross Lutheran Church is located at 601 E. Highway 260, west of Giant. For more information, call (928) 474-2552.

Good Friday, April 6, the church will be open for prayer and private reflection from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Then at 7 p.m. there will be an ecumenical Good Friday service at Community Presbyterian Church on Main Street, where Mount Cross's Pastor Elaine Watskey will be delivering the sermon.

Services on Easter Sunday, April 8 include a traditional Easter service at 8:30 a.m.; an Easter brunch and egg hunt at 9:45 a.m.; and a contemporary Easter service at 10:30 a.m.

Anglican Church of the Holy Nativity

1414 N. Easy Street (corner of Easy Street and Bradley)

April 1: Palm Sunday, Reading of the Passion and Mass, 9 a.m.

April 4: Holy Wednesday, Low Mass and Unction, 10 a.m.

April 6: Good Friday, Stations of the Cross and communion from the Reserved Consecrated Elements

April 8: Easter Sunday, High Mass, 9 a.m., followed by Easter brunch for those who wish to remain.

First Church of the Nazarene

April 1: Family and Palm Sunday at 10:30 a.m., with a meatloaf lunch served by the children's ministry.

April 6: Good Friday service at 6 p.m., followed by Solid Rock Cafe dessert and coffee with friends.

April 7: Easter contemporary service at 6 p.m.

April 8: Sunrise service at 7:30 a.m. in the outdoor chapel with an Easter breakfast at 9 a.m. (There will be no Sunday School on Easter.) There will be a traditional worship service at 10:30 a.m. No evening service on Easter. For more information, call (928) 474-5890.

St. Paul's Episcopal Church

Maundy Thursday, April 5: Holy Eucharist and Foot Washing, 6:30 p.m.

Good Friday Litany, April 6: noon

Saturday, April 7: Easter Vigil and Holy Eucharist, 7 p.m.

Sunday, April 8: Easter Services at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.

All are welcome.

Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod)

Maundy Thursday and the Lord's Supper will be celebrated at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 5.

The resurrection of our Lord will be celebrated with two special services at 7 a.m. (Son-Rise) and 10 a.m., with breakfast being served after the early service at about 8 a.m. The community is invited. For more information, call (928) 474-5440.

Resurrection Celebration

The Payson Christian Ministerial Fellowship is again presenting the Resurrection Celebration for the community.

The special free event will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 7 at Rumsey Park. It features the music of the band Two or More, local bands and the Calvary Kids. There will be food, games, a hayride, a clothing give-away and more.

Payson Christian Church

Sunday, April 8:

7:30 a.m. Easter Sunrise Service (Outdoors. Nursery provided.)

8:30 a.m. breakfast (Fellowship Hall)

9:30 a.m. Sunday School for all ages

There will be no 10:45 a.m. service.

Mountain Bible Church

Sunday, April 8: Easter Celebration, 10 a.m. at the Payson High School Auditorium. The children's program will be in the old gym.
