Al Ayers, 79, of Payson, died April 2, 2007. He was born Jan. 23, 1928 in Hamilton, Ohio.

Mr. Ayers was an Air Force Master Sergeant, Ret., a member of the Payson Masonic Lodge, a Scottish Rite lifetime member, a member of Miss Rodeo Arizona Inc., the Northern Gila County Historical Society, a volunteer ranger at the Tonto Natural Bridge, a volunteer at the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce and was on the Payson Rodeo Committee.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Ayers; daughter Susan Lee (T.J.) Jordan of Phoenix; sons, Kenneth David Ayers of Chandler and Steven Paul (Sue) Ayers of Camp Verde; sister, Nancy Ruth (Don) Nicholas of Payson; grandchildren, Marsha Christine Ayers of Santa Cruz, Calif., Melissa Ann (Alan) Jones of Phoenix, Rebecca Sue Jordan and Vanessa Lee Jordan, both of Phoenix.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15 at 2 p.m. at Messinger Payson Funeral Home, 302 W. Aero Drive, Payson, Ariz. A reception will follow at the Majestic Rim, 310 E. Tyler Parkway, Payson.
