One lucky 2007 Payson High School graduate who is still at the post-gradation party in the wee hours of the morning will take home a brand-new scooter.

Each senior gets one ticket for this prize.

Cherie Griffin and Eileen Daniels have been busy asking merchants for prizes for the second annual Payson Graduation Party. Chris Wiseley of Lund Cadillac in Phoenix donated this Qipai scooter, worth more than $2,100, as the grand prize for the May 24 teen event.

The Payson Graduation Party begins at 10:30 p.m. the same date as the PHS graduation ceremony, May 24.

The party, held at the Tonto Apache Gym, lasts until 5 a.m. the next day. Each senior may bring one guest to the party, but graduating seniors are the only people eligible for prizes and they must be present to win.

Beginning at 11:30 p.m. there will be drawings every half hour, with prizes getting bigger in value as the night heads toward dawn.

A laptop, a digital camera, a television set, and a Sony PlayStation are among the top prizes.

"Register early and increase your chances to win," said event co-chair, Cherie Griffin.

PHS seniors have received their registration packets in the mail.

"If you register by May 1, you get an extra 25 raffle tickets. The number of tickets is reduced after May 1," Griffin said.

If a senior wins one of the five big prizes that will be drawn before the grand prize, they are ineligible to win the scooter.

No event with teenagers would be complete without plenty of food and games to play.

There will also be an area to relax, play pool or pingpong, use a dancing machine, pose for a caricaturist or simply socialize.

The party is an alcohol-, tobacco- and drug-free event.

Parents who have additional questions, anyone who would like to chaperone or make a donation to the cause, may contact Griffin at (928) 474-9535 or Eileen Daniels at (928) 474-6645.
